Our Favourite Villa in Seminyak, Bali
Tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac in Seminyak is Cicada Luxury Townhouses. This collection of contemporary and stylish townhouses exceeded all of our expectations, and gave us the ultimate peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. The townhouses are set around a gorgeous pool and lined with lush greenery. We stayed in their luxurious one bedroom villa in April and loved every moment.
After leaving an amazing resort in Ubud, we travelled to Seminyak to be closer to the beach. Seminyak is a coastal suburb of Kuta, famous for it's large beach and numerous lively bars which face out to sea. We were sad to leave Ubud, but excited to explore another part of the island.
The Villa...
Our villa was HUGE, with a spacious living room and kitchen, and a large bedroom with an amazingly comfortable bed. I slept so well and woke up refreshed every morning, ready for another day on the beautiful island of Bali. The villa was decorated in a modern style, with plenty of places to sit and relax, and a table and chairs for eating. We didn't use the kitchen much, but we did make some coffees and used the fridge for water. The bathroom was spread out across the bedroom, with separated toilet and shower which were technically outside. We had a sink each, and were given all of the standard complimentary toiletries.
The Pool...
Our villa also had a pool but the main hotel pool was so amazing that we spent most of our swimming time there. It's a long enough pool to swim lengths (towards a huge Buddha), but it's not very wide. The main pool feels secluded and almost private, we were surprised to find that most of the time we were alone with very few other guests. We spent several mornings making silly videos and pics in the pool and sunbathing amongst the beautiful greenery.
The Breakfast...
If you're expecting a buffet breakfast you'll be dissapointed, but the Cicada breakfasts are delicious. You make your order the night before, and your breakfast is delivered at your chosen time the next morning. We loved eating in our bathrobes at the living room table, and it was also nice to not have huge selections of food to tempt myself away from! There isn't a huge breakfast menu but there was a variety of Indonesian, European and American options and I can honestly say I enjoyed all of my choices thoroughly. You also get bread, pastries and juice/coffees with your meal.
The Customer Service...
The staff at the hotel go out of their way to be helpful in any way that they can. They are friendly, professional and were happy to help with booking taxis, restaurant recommendations and directions.
The Location...
Here's the downside. The hotel is not far from Petitenget Beach but it definitely wasn't one of our favourite beaches on the island. We spent most of our time travelling to other beaches and walking around the centre of Seminyak, we barely spent any time on Seminyak's beaches. The centre of town is lively with lots of shops, bars and restaurants, but you'd need to get a cab there from Cicada because it's around a 20 minute walk down busy roads with very little sidewalk. The hotel is also in an inconspicuous location, down a small driveway and nestled away from the action. We didn't mind this but if you want to be more central this isn't the place for you. We had no trouble getting cabs to and from the centre, and we loved the villa so much that we'd definitely go back!
We had the perfect stay at Cicada Luxury Townhouses and can recommend it for couples and families wanting to experience Seminyak in a beautiful laid back resort. Also, if you're travelling to Bali check out our Top 3 Best Beaches In Bali and Top 6 Things To Do In Ubud.
