Stuck In A Rut? Stop Tedious Travel With These Long Term Travel Tips

On the face of it, travelling appears as if it’s the perfect activity. As well as spending weeks and months off work, you get to visit new countries and experience sights and emotions that you didn’t know existed.

To a layman, this could never be boring. To you, although you hate to admit it, travelling can get tedious at times. Instead of denying it out of loyalty to the community, you need to accept it and craft new ways to maintain the wanderlust spark.

Here is a selection of pointers that are designed to stop the most exciting trip in the world from becoming a grind.

Organise A “Different” Adventure

For an incredibly broad industry, it’s amazing how many travellers do the same thing every trip. You may fall into this category, too. If you’re a person who picks a region, books a flight, and lands with zero plans, this could be the reason you’re not as motivated.

With this in mind, you should consider a different experience, such as volunteering. Top volunteer organisations in India, Brazil, and South Africa exist, as well as in many other countries. Therefore, there isn’t a lack of opportunities.

Giving meaning to your trip and having a set day may add the freshness you’re searching for.

Drop Your Friends

You’ll hear about the virtues of solo travel all the time from people who have been there and got the t-shirt. Unfortunately, you don’t see the big deal. That or you’re scared to drop your friends who double-up as your safety net.

Don’t be ashamed to say you’re fearful of travelling alone because it’s a scary prospect, but it’s the adrenaline that makes it such a compelling adventure.

When you always need to make new friends and navigate foreign environments, nothing is familiar. It’s this sensation that makes solo travel exciting 24-hours a day.

Understand “Safety” Concerns

Everyone should put safety first, especially if you’re on your own. On the flip side, you shouldn’t listen to the rumours and horror stories about places that are off the beaten track. Usually, they are tall tales.

You haven’t been to Venezuela, and most people wouldn’t after hearing the gossip, yet it’s a beautiful country with remarkable sights and people. Pakistan is the same.

It’s important to check the FCO website for information. However, don’t dismiss a country straight away unless the Commonwealth Office advises against all travel. The fact is, that this information can also sometime be exaggerated.

Stay Put

You’re halfway through the journey when the travelling blues creep into your head. It happens all the time, especially when you see pictures of friends and family on social media.

Most people decide to take action and move to a fresh location, yet this isn’t ideal. Part of the reason long-term travelling gets tedious is the constant relocating. Therefore, the best thing to do is to stay put and unwind.

You’ll find that your mind and body begin to acclimatise to the surroundings and fall in love with the place all over again.
