Best Hotel in Ubud
Set in the heart of Ubud lies the stunning Royal Tulip Visesa Ubud Luxury Villas. Blending the amazing Balinese culture with modern extravagance, Visesa Ubud is a beautiful paradise.
In the video below you'll get a sense of the resort as we take you an a little digital tour of this amazing place to stay in Ubud.
We started our Bali trip in Ubud. We chose to stay at a new 5 star hotel called The Royal Tulip, Desa Visesa. Although the hotel was not completely finished when we arrived it did not affect our stay whatsoever. We were even upgraded to a large and spacious one bedroom villa. It had its own private pool, an outdoor seating area, king sized bed, and an outdoor tropical style bathroom. When the resort host escorted us to our villa he opened the sliding doors to the room and said: "Welcome to paradise". He wasn't wrong!
The resort feels secluded as it is surrounded by beautiful rice fields that seem to stretch on for miles. The resort is situated perfectly. Hidden amongst the beauty of the local villages, but still only a 5 minute shuttle ride away from central Ubud. The shuttle is free and runs at regular intervals, so taking a break from paradise to soak up the culture that Ubud's busy streets have to offer is never too difficult.
The hotel grounds were gorgeous. At the centre of the resort was a picturesque pond enclosed by beautiful rice terraces. The paths were well planned and were lined with palm trees and tropical flowers that seemed to mix in perfectly with the Balinese style carvings and statues scattered throughout the grounds. A minutes walk from our villa was the beautiful outdoor fitness suite equipped with all the basic essentials of a hotel sized gym. The striking difference was the view that you had while running on the treadmill and burning off last night's Mi Goreng (Balinese noodles). Whether you're into your fitness or not, you couldn't help but want to get a pre pool pump with a view like that! After working up an appetite in our morning session we headed over to breakfast at the resort's restaurant that was situated right next to the beautiful well equipped pool area. Breakfast was amazing each and every single day. We dared not sleep in a wink as we had so much to look forward to each day, especially with it starting off with such an amazing spread for breakfast. After breakfast we would fill our days with time at the pool and experience all the amazing free activities the resort had to offer. We speak more about these below. But first we must mention the staff and customer service...
From the minute we arrived the staff were impeccable. As soon as we stepped out of the prearranged airport transport we were greeted by friendly staff who welcomed us to the resort with a traditional Balinese blessing. At all times the staff at the hotel were friendly, polite and helpful. We were treated like special guests throughout our whole stay and the service was spot on. We had several enquiries about things to do, places to see, night life, entertainment, and most importantly the best places to eat. All our questions were answered, time and care was taken to find the best information to pass onto us. All in all, we would highly rate all the staff and the management involved in running this outstanding luxury resort.
Now, onto the things that really made this hotel experience unique. What really make Royal Tulip, Visesa Desa Ubud stand out is the array of excellent activities that they had to offer. All at the amazing cost of FREE. Yes, that is correct... free! All of the activities were high quality and thoroughly made our experience at the resort so much more exciting and memorable. We highly recommend fitting in as many of these activities as you can. They were all brilliant!
Free activities to do at the resort
1. Village cycling
Such an amazing way to get an insight into Balinese culture and stunning views of the villages and rice fields.
2. Offering Making
Everywhere in Bali you see small boxes on the floor filled with flowers. These are offerings which are made several times a day and placed outside houses and stores. We loved learning how to make these and the hotel guides were informative and friendly.
3. Yoga
We took a yoga class one morning at the studio. The class was full but it was great to take part in a session within such beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The teacher was also very good and paid attention to all members as much as possible.
4. Village Trekking
It was great to have a guided walking tour through the rice fields around the outside of the resort. Bali is beautiful and you should do as much walking as you can!
5. Daily Pamper Sessions
Pamper sessions are offered daily by the pool. Cold towels are placed on your face, legs and arms which is needed in the heat! This is followed by a short massage and then cucumbers are placed over your eyes. It's a lovely touch and we took advantage almost every day!
