A Quick Guide To Travelling Light - But In Style!

Packing light is a pretty common travel tip, but one many people ignore. Why? Because they worry, they will have to sacrifice their style and end up looking like a slob. However, when you know how to pack light in style, you can have a great trip without worry. It’s when we travel the lightest that we most become ourselves. Many spiritual people believe that underneath all your possessions you find your true self. Traveling light can help us to stop feeling addicted to the things we own.

Let’s take a look at a few things you can do to make sure you’re not carrying more than you should be all while looking and feeling great!

Choose The Right Bag

The first thing you’re going to need is the perfect bag for packing light. A smaller bag will reduce temptation and ensure you are more frugal with the things you choose to pack. A carry on bag is around 40 liters, and this is usually a great size for those who are staying in hotels and hostels. Think about where you’re going to be walking with your bag. If you’re going to need to wheel a bag across beaches, cobblestone paths, and in all kinds of weather, it might actually be better to pick up a backpack.

Use Packing Cubes

Packing cubes help to keep your bag organized and allow you to utilise the most of your space.

You can use multiple packing cubes for your tops, bottoms, underwear, and so on. This will force you to think critically about the things you really want to take.

Awaken Your Inner Adventurer

Becoming a light traveller must start before you even begin to pack your bag. Approach the task of packing in the spirit of adventure. It doesn’t matter where you’re going: every trip gives us the opportunity to learn something new and grow, and each trip is an opportunity for adventure. You don’t need to pack for every eventuality. Embrace thinking like ‘what’s the worst that could happen?’ When you begin to think like this, you’ll realize you don’t need half of what you would usually take with you.

Think Like A Traveller, Not A Tourist

A traveller always thinks differently to a tourist. Packing a heavy bag is definitely a rookie mistake that should be avoided. If you take a huge bag, you'll not only have to lug that around with you: you’ll need to pay for expensive transport, because you don’t really have a choice. Ordering an Airport Taxi can be convenient, but you’ll need to make sure you go for a trustworthy firm, so they don’t take you on an expensive detour. With minimal luggage, you’re more likely to be able to escape troublesome situations.

You can always wash your stuff while you’re away if you need to, and you can purchase quick wash spray for a freshen up. You can buy anything you need out there, too, so bear these things in mind as you pack.
